Meghan Markle Spent $200,000 On Her Wardrobe For Invictus Games
Highlights
- Meghan Markle spends significantly more on clothes compared to Kate Middleton, with recent outfits costing over $200,000 USD.
- Meghan's expensive fashion choices may be intentional, aiming to make a statement and showcase her personal style as a style icon.
- Kate, on the other hand, is more economical and reserved in her clothing choices, often re-wearing outfits and supporting small British designers.
It’s not only Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton’s fashion styles that wildly differs, but also their preference on how much to spend on their attire. According to a new report, Meghan spends a lot more than her sister-in-law when it comes to clothes.
As per GB News, the outfits Meghan wore to the Invictus Games recently cost over $200,000 USD, whereas Kate is known to rewear outfits to public events, despite this often being seen as a faux pas in Hollywood. Speaking to the outlet, fashion expert Susie Nelson (who’s also the owner of Modes and More) explained that Kate would likely take a simpler approach when it came to the fashion, if she were to have attended the Invictus Games.
"If it was Kate, I think the clothing would have had less bling, possibly with more sensitivity to the audience,” Nelson said. "For example, the wearing of high street jewellery as well as clothes."

Meghan Markle’s Half-Sister’s Defamation Lawsuit Has Been Dismissed
Samantha Markle was seeking $75,000 in damages over Meghan's infamous interview with Oprah Winfrey.Meghan’s fashion choices may not only be because she likes the finer things in life. Another fashion expert, stylist Oriona Robb, told GB News that she believes the actress’s expensive choices were intentional “to make a statement and showcase her personal style.”
"As a style icon, she may have wanted to convey a sense of luxury and sophistication through her outfit choices,” Robb explained.
"Additionally, Meghan could have been expressing her support for the event by wearing expensive attire, highlighting her commitment to the cause,” the stylist went on.
This theory comes as Meghan and Prince Harry are reportedly facing financial woes, following the cancellation of their lucrative deal with Spotify earlier this year. More recently, it was reported that Meghan stopped trying to rebrand her podcastArchetypes to get it pick up by another provider.
There’s been speculation Meghan may return to Instagram in hopes of making money through sponsored content, but so far, nothing has been confirmed.
What is apparent, however, is that Duchess of Sussex isn’t afraid to drop big money when it comes to her wardrobe. Robb emphasized that this contrasts with Kate, who’s not only more economical when it comes to her clothing (likely because it comes out of the UK taxpayer money), but she’s more classic and reserved in her choices.
"On the other hand, the Princess of Wales is known for her down-to-earth nature and support for small British designers,” Robb explained.
"In a similar situation, she might opt for more affordable and locally sourced outfits,” she continued. "Each member of the Royal Family may have their unique style preferences and ways of supporting causes through their fashion choices."
With Harry and Meghan estranged from the royal family and living in California, they seem to be taking hold of the finer things in life, even if the divorce rumors continue to follow them.
