King Charles Evicts Harry & Meghan From U.K. Home To Make Space For Prince Andrew

Publish date: 2024-05-18

`After being exposed for sexual assault, Prince Andrew has largely been out of the spotlight. He’s reportedly been living mainly at the Royal Lodge in Windsor, worth $37 million. However, Prince Andrew is apparently being pressure by the royal family to downsize his accommodation, though he’s not budging.

According to a report by Page Six, sources reveal King Charles has grown “tired and furious” over his family members choosing not to listen to him, even though he’s set to be crowned King of England next month.

Apparently, King Charles wants his younger brother to move into Frogmore Cottage, which, until recently, was inhabited by his son Prince Harry and wife Meghan Markle. However, King Charles chose to evict the couple only a day after Harry’s controversial memoir Spare was made public.

The couple’s main residence is in California, where they own property, and they’ve only been back to the U.K. a handful of times since abdicating their royal duties.

“This eviction surely spells the end of Harry and Meghan’s time in the UK,” a source told The Sun .

Frogmore Cottage is a spacious and luxe manor, as are all the royal residences. But it pales in comparison to the Royal Lodge, which Prince Andrew has called home since 2003.

However, after he was stripped of his royal duties in 2022 following a lawsuit over sexual assault allegations, which was settled privately out of court, the royal family apparently thinks it’s time for him to downsize his accomodation, much to the dissatisfaction of the prince.

“Andrew doesn’t want to leave because the property is seen as a symbol of senior royalty — an important property in the family’s portfolio,” a source told Page Six.

It’s unclear who King Charles plans to move into the Royal Lodge once Prince Andrew moves out, but the same source says that his eldest son (and next in line for the throne) Prince William is eyeing it for his family.

“But William, who is the heir to the throne, has his eye on it,” the insider shared.

William and his wife, Kate Middleton, alongside their three children currently live in the Adelaide Cottage, which they moved into within the last year. However, with only four bedrooms, the couple apparently feels it’s too small.

“The cottage they live in once belonged to people who worked for the royals — such as Group Captain Peter Townsend, who had a romance with Princess Margaret and who described it as an ‘ice box’ — and is very cramped,” the source said.

It remains to be seen how King Charles reshuffles the royal residences.
