You may know Jared Leto is the lead guitarist and singer for the band 30 Seconds To Mars, and an amazing actor in films such as Suicide Squad, Dallas Buyers Club, and Fight Club. But he's so much more than that. He's a vegan, animal-loving, charity-raising man with more talents and hobbies than most families put together. There really isn't much that this man hasn't done.

He's worth an estimated $40 million, and with cash like that, who wouldn't travel the world and make a difference while doing it? He's a heartthrob and an accomplished celebrity, and to top it all off, he filthy stinking rich. It's a wonder he hasn't been snatched up already. He does possess a weird streak though, but that's okay with us! He's an inspiration, no matter what strange things he's bought (or gifted) in the past.

Just when you think you know the man, you find out something new. As if acting and music weren't profitable enough, he invests money into other companies, and he does it wisely. He attributes most of his success to that, coupled with his awesome body. How does he stay in such good shape? He puts his money in the right places, and avoids bad foods, alcohol, and anything that can be addictive and bad for his health. Sounds like he's got it all figured out.

Rats And Other Unwanted Gifts

In 2016, it was rumored that Leto sent some rather strange gifts to his Suicide Squad co-stars, in an attempt to get into the mind of his upcoming role as The Joker. These gifts included a live rat, used condoms, a dead hog, and anal beads. Yuck! While I appreciate his dedication to his acting career, this is a few steps too far.

Supposedly, director David Ayer hired a therapist to the set, though it's unclear whether the treatment was for Jared or the rest of the cast.

Whether this was all a publicity stunt or Leto really was going a little nuts during the filming of the movie, it's certainly an interesting way to spend money.

Makeup To Express His Creativity

Jared Leto is known for wearing crazy awesome (and sometimes not-so-awesome) outfits, complete with a full face of makeup. He brings his best looks to his concerts.

Leto is one of the few men who can get away with wearing makeup. He doesn't just pull it off, he rocks it in a masculine way.

He's been known to wear not only eyeliner, but a light silver-blue eyeshadow. From what I can tell, he doesn't wear it as much in his day-to-day life anymore, but you can still catch him all "glammed up" at his concerts and at events. He especially pulls this look off when his hair is long. He hasn't come forward with his makeup brand of choice, but knowing him, it's probably expensive.

Gout Treatment

Leto intentionally gained over 65 pounds while preparing for his role as Mark Chapman in Chapter 27.

He admitted that it was "a stupid thing to do" after he developed gout and various other health complications.

Gout is a type of arthritis where crystals of sodium urate form inside joints, causing painful swelling and redness. His cholesterol also went through the roof during this time, to the point where his doctors wanted to put him on Lipitor. He didn't have a horrible time shedding the weight afterwards due to his healthy lifestyle, but it was a bad situation nonetheless. He had to spend time and money getting get health back in check. He vowed to never gain weight for a role again. I can't say I blame him! No role is worth putting your health on the back burner.

Yoga To Stay Balanced

Yup, that's right. Jared Leto is a yogi! He can't get enough of it. He's been featured on countless yoga publications and he's very open about his love for the practice, especially outside in nature.

He also practises meditation every day, and loves the Headspace Meditation app. You can find him hiking in the Hollywood Hills, reconnecting with nature and taking some time for his mental health.

It's no wonder he's so in shape. Practising yoga will certainly keep you toned and healthy, and Jared is beyond toned. Couple this up with a vegan diet, and you've got yourself a fit man! Yoga isn't an expensive hobby to get into, unless you want a variety of mats and outfits. Leto doesn't appear to spend a big chunk of change on his yoga gear, but he certainly travels to cool places to practise it.

Leto Spends Time And Money Helping Those In Need

Did you know Jared Leto used to live in Haiti as a child? He didn't talk about it very much for a long time, until he did an interview with ENews! after the earthquake in 2010.

He participated in Larry King's telethon and he auctioned off tickets and backstage passes to his concerts. He even auctioned off dinner with his band, 30 Seconds To Mars, on Ebay to raise money for Haiti.

He doesn't just support causes that are personally near and dear to his heart, though! He's supported a plethora of charities, such as the Barbara Davis Center For Childhood Diabetes, the Elton John AIDS Foundation, MusiCares, and spcaLA. He's both raised money and donated it. What a great man!

Leto Personalizes His Cars

Leto has quite the car collection, but that's no surprise. His Ford Bronco is his pride and joy, but he has several beautiful cars and trucks. We know he can be flashy, but people were still shocked to finally see what he drives around in. This is an old car, and a massive one at that. Add in the flames, and you're bound to turn heads.

I think that's just what he was going for, and it's awesome that he's managed to turn something as cool and simple as a Ford Bronco into an eye-catching masterpiece.

He seems to prefer big, powerful engines, and sleek design. His owns a Mercedes g Wagon, a Vador G35 sport, Lincoln Navigator, and a GMC  Yukon. Wow!

Leto Has A Personal Chef That Travels With Him

Jared Leto eats a diet that is mostly vegan, I say mostly because he has stated that he calls himself a "cheagan," a vegan that sometimes cheats.  He avoids refined carbohydrates, sweets, and alcohol, sticking to whole foods that are known to reduce inflammation and have few free radicals.

He follows a high carb, low fat diet, and he gets all of his protein from plant sources. Coupled with stress-reducing yoga, his diet of whole nutritious foods helps him maintain a ripped physique well into his forties.

Popcorn and hot chocolate are a couple of his faves, and when he was on the Carnivores Tour (ironic, isn't it?), he had a vegan chef around to make sure he could keep his regular diet going.

Leto Expresses Himself Through His Clothing

It's no secret that Jared Leto has a unique style. He's often seen in wacky colors and patterns that stand out. As if his rockin' bod wasn't enough to draw attention, he likes to show his artsy side through his clothing choice, both on and off stage. In his day-to-day life, it's not unusual to see him in bright, colorful outfits, and on stage, well, things can get a little weird.

He's performed in capes, and he's a pretty dedicated Gucci ambassador. They practically funded his band's tour in the summer of 2016.

And yes, he's even been spotted with fanny packs. If there's one person who can pull off a fanny pack, it's Jared Leto. He might just make them cool again (if they were ever cool before).

Leto Isn't Afraid Of A Little Ink

Jared Leto has several tattoos, most of which are related to his band, Thirty Seconds to Mars. On the right side of his chest reads the Latin phrase, "PROVEHITO IN ALTUM," which means "Launch forth in the depth," his band's motto. The triangles on his forearms are alchemy symbols that stand for air, the symbol appears in Thirty Seconds to Mars artwork.

Jared Leto's tattoos have underlying meanings that are personal to him and they tell us a lot about his dedication to his art.

They look great, too! While he's not covered in tattoos, he has quite a few, and they're nice quality! We're willing to bet he paid a pretty penny to get tatted up.

Leto Only Hires The Best For His Custom-Made Guitars

When you're the lead guitarist and singer for 3o Seconds to Mars, you don't skimp on the custom-made guitar budget. Jared Leto hired McSwain Guitars to design his beautiful custom-made guitars.

They came up with two designs that they say "embody the persistence and determination that is 30STM."

The custom designs are named Pythagoras and Artemis. On the bodies of the guitars lies a breath-taking inlay of a griffin, and on the neck are a few of the symbols associated with the band. McSwain Guitars is a company that is run out of a garage by a single passionate luthier, Stephen McSwain, who makes some of the most unique and beautiful guitars in the world. These guitars are expensive, as you would imagine. Nothing less than the best for Leto!

Leto Rides In European Style

As if he wasn't already cool enough, Leto loves motorcycles. Above you can see him riding a gorgeous Ducati. We already know he loves to visit Italy, but apparently he favors their sleek motorcycle engineering as well. Ducati has a long history of making superior high-performance bikes that look as good as they perform, and they are not cheap. Wouldn't it be nice to ride through the European countryside on such a fancy bike? Riding alongside Leto would be even better.

Leto Is A Well-Read Man

Jared Leto is an avid reader. His favorite books include Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse, The Demon Under the Microscope by Thomas Hager, Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson, and Finn by Jon Clinch.

One can clearly see from looking at Leto's reading choices that he seeks enlightenment and self-improvement. He reads to learn from the greatest figures in history like a true autodidact.

It's easy to see why he is so successful and well-rounded. He even published a book in 2011 titled Notes from the Outernet, and though it was comprised of pictures from his trips around the world in 2009 and 2010, it's a book nonetheless. They were photos that were previously unpublished, and it received a nomination in the Best Book category for the 2012 NME Awards. Is there anything Jared Leto hasn't done?

Leto's

While there are no articles written about Jared Leto hiring interior decorators, we know his home didn't furnish and design itself, specifically his newest military compound mansion.

It's absolutely gorgeous on the inside, with complimentary colors and dynamic furniture! There's art on almost every wall, beautiful rugs, and gorgeous curtains! Even the outdoor pool area is planned out and complete with perfect furniture that matches the rest of the house. It couldn't be any more relaxing. I mean, why waste your time decorating the inside of your house when you're worth $40 million? I would pay someone else to do it too! Super cozy and comfortable, without the hassle and stress of getting the feng shui correct.

Fighting For Equal Rights

Yup, that's right! We thought we couldn't love him anymore than we already do too, but it turns out Leto isn't just a super cool, powerful, healthy yogi who donates to charities — he also fights for equal rights! In 2009, he helped raise money for a gay rights group called FAIR. He participated in an online auction full of celebrity-signed posters, but it didn't stop there.

He physically wrote out the actual language found on the Proposition 8 ballot initiative on the back his Fairy print poster, burned it, and put the ashes in a glass urn.

He signed it, dated it, and wrote "Here lies within, the remains of Proposition 8. May it rest in peace," complete with a red bow, of course.

Leto Loves His Fur Babies

Just about everyone loves dogs and Jared Leto is no exception. Although, Leto takes his love for canines a step further — he is the proud owner of a wolf! In an interview with RollingStone he said,

"One time, I had rolled down the window in the car. He jumped out, took off running, and took down a Canadian goose."

As if having a wolf wasn't enough of a statement, he actually named the wolf Judas, one of the most infamous men of Christian history. Sadly, in 2012 he lost his pet husky, Sky. He was a long-time family pet, but unfortunately, all pet owners have to face the difficult decision to have their beloved animal put to sleep.

Snowboarding And Rock Climbing Gear For The Adrenaline-Seeking Leto

Oh, you thought yoga, meditation, and a healthy diet were the only ways Jared Leto stays in shape? Think again! He's an avid snowboarder, and the picture shown above is from 1997! He doesn't snowboard as much as he used to, but I'm sure he's still got the moves. He's even pretty great at rock climbing! Who knew?

During a break from Hollywood, he produced an awesome web series called Great Wide Open. In this five-part series, he explores America's national parks.

He climbs Matthes Crest and Cathedral Peak in Tuolumne. He learns a ton and gains appreciation for climbing athletes, all with a great attitude. What can't he do?

Invests In Startup Companies

Jared Leto is smart with his money. He understands the value of diversifying his income, and does what it takes to make his money grow. Leto has always been an entrepreneur at heart, getting 30 Seconds to Mars signed with a major label was no small feat.  The man knows what it takes for a business to be successful, and as such, he knows how to invest.

According to The Wall Street Journal, he cold-calls companies to find new tech investments. Not only does he invest his money in these companies, he invests his time as well.

He's been known to provide tech companies with valuable feedback to help them further achieve success in a competitive market.

Starts His Own Companies

Jared Leto has been involved in a few start-up companies. One start-up, The Hive, is a social media management company that helps artists better connect with their fans.

He founded VyRT, a streaming service that provides a service for musicians to broadcast events live on the Internet.

Like The Hive, it provides a means for musicians to develop a deeper connection with their fans. When starting his own companies, Leto stay in his own wheel-house. He uses his experiences as a rockstar to help him creative innovative platforms to help artists around the world.

And, Of Course, Mansions

We can't forget mansions now, can we? Jared Leto is has a pretty peculiar taste when it comes to homes, with his most recent purchase being a $5 million historic military compound. It was built in the 1940s, though you might not be able to tell by looking of it now. He sold his former home in the Hollywood Hills for just over $2 million.

A couple of years ago, Leto bought himself an 8-bedroom, 5-bathroom, 50,000-square feet military compound in Los Angeles for $5 million. It's known as the Laurel Canyon and it was built in the 1940s but was later used in the '60s as a military film studio.

On the outside, Leto's home looks more like a place of business than a residential building, but he managed to turn this unique building into a home. It's rumored that the compound was almost turned into a ritzy rehab facility, in which people would pay over $50,000 a month to work through their addictions. While we don't know if this is true or not, it would certainly make sense since it's heavily guarded, private, and has over 50,000 square feet of space.

Leto Is A Globetrotter

Who doesn't love to vacation? Leto has recently vacationed in Italy, Greece, and Mexico. With a disposable income like his, one can only imagine the types of luxurious vacations this guy can afford. He loves to relax on the beach. There are many photos of him riding a sea-doo in the beautiful Mediterranean when he visited Greece. There are no limits for this man, but even so, he keeps his vacations relatively simple — just trips to beautiful beaches with family and friends. Sounds like a wonderful time to me!

In 2011, he even went back to visit Haiti. He would have gone sooner, but felt that what they needed most after the earthquake was money. He wasn't wrong. It's awesome that he got to visit the place he lived as a child again, after helping them raise money to repair the damage form the 2010 earthquake.
